Norman “Norm” Barga, 77, of Kennard, Indiana (formally of Claremont) passed away Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, IN. He was born on January 6, 1940 in Versailles, OH. He was retired from the United States Air Force. Norm taught ROTC at Samford University in Homewood, AL. and served in the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he retired from the United States Postal Service. Norm was a dedicated husband and father. He touched many lives during his 77 years on this earth. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors but mostly, he enjoyed taking care of the people he loved. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Delois “Ann” Barga of Kennard, IN. He is also survived by his son, Sean Barga (Rebecca) of Statesville, NC and daughter, Brandi Lewis (Patrick) of Fountain, CO; 5 grandchildren, Hollyn Barga of Statesville, NC; Chelsea Sturgill of Denver, CO; Matthew, Justin and Emily Lewis of Fountain, CO. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family who miss him dearly. Being an only child, he became especially close to his brothers and sisters in law through the years. He loved them all as if they were his own blood siblings and shared a very special bond with each one. A special thank you to his nephew Troy Higgs, who made sure the miles didn’t come between them. In addition to his birth parents, he was preceded in death by a very special uncle and aunt, Jacob and Thelma Figel of Kennard, IN and his son, Richard Barga of Millbrook, AL. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of friends will be held from 2-3:00 pm at The Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
