Norman Eugene Ferringer, 56 of 20th Avenue, Drive N.E. Hickory, died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Carolina?s Medical Center in Charlotte. Born April 27, 1955, he was the son of the late William Edgar Ferringer & Florence Esther McDowell Ferringer. Norman was a member of Church of the Nazarene Hickory. He was very active in the church, as a church board member, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. Norman was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman and race fan and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the mountains. He was a loving, supportive and understanding father. Two sons, Michael James Ferringer and Mark Allen Ferringer, both of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Sandra Elaine Ferringer McCrary of Lincolnton and Norine Elizabeth Ferringer Hall of Phoenix, Arizona; and a brother, Lyle Everette Ferringer of Newton survive him. In addition to his parents; a brother, Eldred Ferringer preceded him in death. A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Church of the Nazarene of Hickory. The Rev. Roger Lee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of the Nazarene of Hickory, 3404 Hwy. 127 South, Hickory, NC 28602.
