Olen Long

Olen Elbert Long 80 of Newton died Monday March 31st, 2014 at Carolina Rehab Center of Burke County. Born August 1st, 1933 he was the son of the late Noah Garfield Long and Ida Clementine Billings Long. His wife, Ruby Butler Long of the home; a step daughter, Maxine Marie Greene and husband Ronald of Conover; an adopted daughter, Judy Butler and husband Herman of Morganton; a sister, Margaret Felts of N. Wilkesboro; two brothers, James Long of Hickory and Wayne Long of Hildebran and three step grandchildren, Kenneth Denton, Christopher Greene and Shaina Greene survive him. Four brothers, Ward Long, Brad Long, Willard Long and Leroy Long;two sisters, Cora Shumake and Ora Hutchinson preceded him in death. Funeral will be 2:00 pm Thursday April 3rd at Kingsway Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew Stephens and Rev. Dean Hart officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Jenkins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Jenkins Cemetery following the service.
