Oscar Conner

Oscar Martin Conner Jr. 84 of Hickory died Sunday March 23rd, 2014 at his residence. Born November 17th, 1929 he was the son of the late Oscar Martin Conner, Sr. and Nellie Maude Conner. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was employed by Highland Park Mills in Charlotte and Craven Construction Company and Southeastern Fire Services. He was a self employed craftsman and could make anything out of wood. His wife of 54 years Ellen Marianne Wike Conner of the home; a son, Eddy Marc Conner and wife Peggy of Conover; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Roberson and husband Leonard of Concord, NC and Wanda Marie Conner of Hickory; a sister, Josephine Untz of Charlotte; a grand-daughter, Brittany Marie Trexler of Hickory and two step grand-daughters, Shannon Ritchie of Taylorsville and Mindy Hinds of Claremont; five step great-grandchildren survive him. A son, Marty Conner; a sister, Beurine Brown, Estelle Rankin, Edith Fincher and Carol Newell; a brother, Calvin Coolidge Conner preceded him in death. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday March 27th, 2014 at Springs Road Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating.
