Patricia Henderson Britt of Newton passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford. Pat was a kind and humble woman whose greatest joy in life was her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sheila Joyce and husband Tim of Newton, Beverly Underwood and husband Randy of Conover, and Kim Britt of the home. Pat is also survived by her grandchildren, Will Joyce, Alice Joyce, Erica Isenhour and husband Matt, and Christian Underwood. Pat’s great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life, are Layla Isenhour and Mason Isenhour. Additionally, Pat is survived by one brother, Bill Henderson of Statesville, one sister, Jo Henderson of Randleman, her friend Daryl Lewis, referred to by Pat as the son she never had, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Agnes Henderson, her brother Ainsworth Henderson, her sister Faye Sigmon, and Doris and Tommy Henderson, two siblings who died in childhood before Pat was born. She was also predeceased by her former husband and the father of her children, Fred Britt.
Pat retired after working for the State of North Carolina for 30 years. Her retirement years were spent enjoying time with her family, and serving the church she loved so much.
A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Newton on Saturday, November 17, at 2 pm, with the Reverend Dr. David Greene and the Reverend Lara “Willis” Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 in the church sanctuary. They will also remain in the church fellowship hall after the service to greet friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 926, Newton NC 28658.
The family asks that you dress casually for the service. This would please Pat very much, so come as you are.
