Patsy Bailey

June 16, 1940 — March 20, 2021

Patsy Jean Bailey, 80, of Conover, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service of celebration and remembrance of Patsy’s life will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Gathering Room of Viewmont Baptist Church. Dr. Andrew S. Rawls, Senior Pastor, will officiate.

Patsy was born in Catawba County, June 16, 1940, to the late George Phifer Roper and Mable Lee Whisnant Roper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie Lee Roper Wilson and Betty Whisnant Lail, three brothers, George Roper, Jr. Billy Allen Roper and Bobby Jones Roper.

Patsy attended Viewmont Elementary School and Hickory High School.  She worked in the furniture industry with Century Furniture and Hickory White Furniture for many years.
She was a lifelong member of Viewmont Baptist Church.

Patsy was the most humble, kind and loving human being you would ever want to know.  She loved everyone unconditionally.  She greeted everyone with a big smile regardless of how she felt that day.  She never complained and always asked about you and your family.  She was very grateful and appreciative of every single act of kindness or concern you had for her and would thank you many times for it.

Patsy had many valleys that she traveled through in her lifetime, but she never gave up. With God’s love and strength, she continued her life’s journey until the day God called her home.
She found joy in the simple things in life that most of us take for granted - like going to the beauty shop, to the grocery store, to church on Sundays, visiting family, and even giving out Little Debbie Zebra Cakes to her young niece and nephew regularly. She loved the Lord, her church, and her Sunday school class at Viewmont Baptist Church and the special people who helped her get to church on Sundays. She loved all of her family so much and enjoyed family get-to-gathers whether a big holiday meal, a simple sandwich at Shell’s BBQ or a box of chicken from KFC. She was always excited to be with her family. She appreciated every phone call. Every call to, or from her family, would always end with her saying “I love you.”

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jody Warren, of the home; nieces, Dianne Lail Burgess, Viveca Wilson Paddon, Judy Wilson Hollar of Vale, Shayla Lail Gaines of Hickory and Rose Roper Kralovics of Conover;  nephews Winfield Lail and Bobby Jones Roper of Hickory, and many other family and close friends.

The family would like to thank Viewmont Baptist Church and PACE for their love and care for Patsy. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Patsy’s neighbor, James Lewis, and long time friend, Bob Sain, for their help and devotion to Patsy. She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.
