Patsy Byers

Patsy Jo Teaford Byers, 58 of Advent Road, Hickory died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at N C Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Born July 20, 1950, she was the daughter of Dorothy Shorter of Wirtz, Va. & the late Gordon Everette Teaford. Patsy was a native of Clifton Forge, Virginia, growing up in Buchanan, she was a 1969 graduate of James River High School. Patsy was a true caregiver, animal lover and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach. She was a member of Forrest Grove Baptist Church in Eagle Rock, Va. & worked for P&G Chair Company & Impact Furniture. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Cecil Byers, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Jacquline Wright of Hickory; a step-daughter, Katherine Glazebrook of Morganton; two sons, Chris Teaford & wife Cherin of Hollister, Fla. & David Laastad of Hickory; three step-sons, Jeremy Byers of Hickory, Cecil Byers Jr. of Hickory & John Laastad of Florida; two sisters, Donna and husband Danny Rose of Wirtz, Va., Brenda and husband Alton Richards of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Mike & wife Janie Teaford of Gretna, Va., Steve & wife Judy Teaford of Shady Springs, WV., 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren & many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a step-son, Jason Byers and her mother in law, Annie Hill Byers. A grave side service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Forrest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday June 30, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Eagle Rock Funeral Home, Church Street in Eagle Rock, Va. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or you may send a memorial gift to any children's charity of one's choice. Condolence messages may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.  The Byers family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation service in Newton.Â
