Paul Whitman Deyo 73 of Newton passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his home. Born, May 1st, 1947 he was the only son of Maurice Webb and Elizabeth Whitman Deyo.
He is survived by His wife of 50 years Rebecca Clark Deyo of the home; a daughter Deb Deyo of Islamorada, Fl; a sister Jean Anne Kent and husband Richard of Littleton, Ma;
Grandchildren Harrison Webb Deyo and wife Elizabeth of Statesville, Carly Annia Bost of Newton, and Carson Andrew Bost of Newton, NC.
Paul was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Duke Power as a computer engineer. After retirement, Paul was the Head Technical Director for Hickory Motor Speedway for many years. He also teched in the NASCAR Southern Modified Tour, as well as the Southeast Limited Latemodel Series for a short time. He had a genuine passion for short track racing over the past 25 years. He was a classic car enthusiast and built a 1965 Chevy II. His car proudly displays his support for the Wounded Warrior Project. Paul was a Ham Radio Operator and volunteered for Catawba County Government Communications also known as Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services. He was a Former Chairman of the Board for Catawba Rescue Squad
and had a passion for helping others. He was well loved by his family and will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
