Pauline Whitener Wilkes, 87 of Edna Street, Catawba died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born September 30, 1924 in Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Arbie Lester Whitener and Virginia Hill. Pauline was a member of the Assembly of Yahvah in Catawba for 26 years and a devoted local missionary with her church. She was a cook at the White Pine Restaurant for over 15 years. Four daughters, Geneva Wilkes of Hickory, Nancy Bea McCombs and husband Ira of Catawba, Georgia Lee Lineberger of Catawba and Mary Ann Little of Catawba; five sons, Charles ?Butch? Wilkes of Conover, Edward Wilkes of Catawba, Daffie Wilkes of Newton, Danny Wilkes of Catawba and Jamey Lee Wilkes of Nashville, NC; two sister in laws, Minnie Lee Woods of Maiden and Dorothy Rhinehardt; 31 grand children and numerous great grandchildren survive her. In addition to her husband, Hayes Wilkes, Sr.; two daughters; five sons, six sisters and five brothers preceded her in death. The funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Young will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., one hour prior in the Chapel at Jenkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Motts Grove United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford.
