Peggy Gaither

Peggy Ann Gaither, 90, of Hickory graduated to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at College Pines. Born February 9th, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Herbert Jerome Williams and Annie Mae Williams.

She is survived by her children daughter Balinda Deitz and her husband Steve of Hickory; son Ronald (Rocky) McLendon and wife Vangie of Morganton; three grandchildren David Deitz, Niki Deitz Long, and Christian McLendon, and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Melford Gaither, Sr., Ronald “Mac” McLendon, her sister Jo Lynn Driggers, and her parents.

Peggy was born again as a child and baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1988. Her life journey was a beautiful and bright expression of God’s love, especially for the downcast and brokenhearted. Also known as “Ma Peggy,” she listened with her heart and welcomed you like family no matter who you were. Peggy actively served in her church and opened her home for women’s Bible study groups for many years. All who knew her, knew her first love was Jesus and nothing could draw a brighter smile from her face than sharing about Him. Her desire was that all would come to know Him. For every seed of God’s love Ma Peggy sowed into the lives of others, there are hillsides covered in flowers. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 2nd, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Resurrection Church Hickory at 2010 Clement Road, Hickory, North Carolina. Receiving of family and friends will be from 5:00-6:00 PM followed by the celebration service.
