Rachel Foster

January 22, 1925 — March 29, 2024

Rachel Pearl Smith Foster, 99, was born on January 22, 1925, and passed away peacefully at her daughters home on March 29, 2024. Rachel was one of 12 children born to the late Daisy Kaylor and James Arthur Smith. Rachel loved the Lord and her family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Earl Smith, Beatrice, Lettie Dula, Jim, Violet, Wilma Kirby, Margie
Ramsey, Bill, Juanita Williams, Paul, Rex and her husband William Jeremiah Foster.

She is survived by her children Danny Foster (Martha), Robin Shelton, Melanie Williamson, Shannon Householter, Pete Foster (Diane), Penny Maynard (Ken). Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Rachel was an avid reader, card and game player who was superior at scrabble. She had a great
sense of humor and loved a good riddle, rhymes and jokes. She enjoyed poetry, playing music
and singing songs. She loved flowers and gardens. Born during the depression, she was very
resourceful and creative. She did not have much in the way of worldly possessions, but she was
generous with anything she did have.

The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastors Aaron Causby and Joe Bellone officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. in the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home and burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
