Rachel Mcclain

Rachel Darnell McClain, born on April 12th, 1973, in Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2024, at the age of 51 in High Point, North Carolina.

As we gather to remember and celebrate her life, we acknowledge the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Rachel's life was marked by service, dedication, and a love for traveling. She graduated from East Lincolnton High School in 1991 and furthered her education at UNC in Charlotte, NC, where she received an MSW. Rachel's life was filled with compassionate service, adventurous travels, and treasured memories. Rachel proudly served in the Army for four years, embodying dedication and bravery in all her endeavors. Her service to her country was a testament to her character and resilience. Rachel had a fervent passion for travel, an interest that took her across the globe. Her journeys in China and Istanbul, Turkey, were particularly significant, spending a month of her life there, this offered her experiences that she cherished and often recounted to friends and family. These adventures reflected her curiosity and love for the world around her. She loved her family, and she was always giving. Rachel was a very loving daughter and very educated and she loved the holidays. Especially Christmas, she would always go the extra mile for her family. She loved her niece and nephew dearly and always had very encouraging words to give them and her brother and sister. Forever in our hearts (RIH)

She leaves behind her mother, Evelyn Gibbs of Hickory, NC, her sister, Toni Y. McLean of Lincolnton, NC, her brother, Larry J. Gibbs, her niece and nephew, Jalen McLean and Jayla McLean of Lincolnton, NC.

She is preceded in death by her father, Tony Lee McClain, her grandmother, Sarah Moore McClain, and her grandfathers, Leonard McClain and David Hunter.

The family will receive friends 11:30am-12pm, Saturday November 23, 2024, in Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel, with the service following at 12pm in Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel.
