Verna, born on October 18, 1942, in Wilmington, NC was the sixth
of nine children from the marital union of the late Mary Keith and John
Thomas Bostick.

On December 4, 1966, she married the late Reverend Sammie Lee Tucker.
To this union, four children were born: two girls and twin boys.
In 1961, Reverend Tucker received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the
House of God Which is the Church of the Living God the Pillar and Ground
of the Truth Without Controversy, Inc. under the pastorship of the late
Bishop Joseph Thomas in Brooklyn, NY. She served on the local and
national levels including Sunday School teacher, church secretary,
fundraiser, decorator, and choir director. Her sweet soprano was known for
completing The Three Voices, a singing group with her cousins. Reverend
Tucker was a missionary, visiting the sick and shut in. She later became an
ordained minister and served as Asst. Pastor at Band #2 Brooklyn, New
York.

Verna had a passion for education and spent 18 years teaching children.
She was a college student while working in daycare and raising her
children. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
from City College in New York, she taught at a public school in Brooklyn,
NY.

In her later years, Verna returned to NC during her illness to reside with
her daughter's family in Conover. She departed this life at Abernethy Laurels.
She was a joy to everyone she met. A mother to many ---her warm personality,
generosity, and sweet spirit will forever be etched in our memories.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sammie L. Tucker, seven
brothers, John Thomas Bostick, James Bruce Bostick, Charles Bostick,
Rudolf Bostick, Earl Anton Bostick, William Bostick, Lawrence Bostick and
one sister, Brenda Ann Harrison.

Germantown, MD, Aretha (Russell) Taylor of Conover, NC, David Tucker of
Willingboro, NJ and Daniel Tucker of Ansonia, CT; three grandchildren who
affectionately called her Beemah, Christopher Taylor, Branden Taylor, and
Serena Taylor of Conover, NC; a childhood friend Mary Newsome and a
host of other relatives, friends and spiritual children.
