Richard Dickerson

Richard (Ricky) Gerald Dickerson, 71, of Newton passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born, March 16th, 1951 he was the son of the late Woodrow and Virginia Arlene Harmon. Rick was a Army Vietnam Veteran who served active duty October 12, 1969 to October 11, 1970. He received National Defense Service Metal, Expert Rifle Medal, Vietnam Campaign Metal and Vietnam Service Metal with 4 Bronze stars. Ricks hobbies included engraving, sand blasting and hot rods. He was a member of the Hickory Arts Society. He was a master of all trades who could build or fix anything. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Sally of 42 years; daughters Misty Barber of Newton, Jessica Dickerson of Newton, Dreama Dickerson and William of Charlotte; a son Jason Dickerson and wife Tiffany of Newton; sisters Glenda Parrish of Atlanta Ga, Kathy Dayton and husband Dave of Atlanta, Ga, Karen Key and husband Tommy of Atlanta, GA, Janice Wright of Atlanta, GA; brothers Ray Dickerson of Atlanta, Ga; Danny Harmon and wife Sue of Atlanta, GA, Terry Harmon of Atlanta, GA, Robert Harmon and his wife Anne of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alley, Zac ,Emily, Jaylynn, Selena, Angel, Toby, Deontae and fiancé Tyrone, Derrick, Damarah, Dominque, Deona; and five great grandchildren survive him.

In addition to his parents; a daughter Ricki Michelle Dickerson; a sister Pam; a granddaughter Savanna preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be will be 5:00 pm Friday February 10, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor
Scottie Smith officiating.






The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 pm Friday February 10, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
