Ricky "Ric" Dean Lomax, 54 of Hickory died December 2, 2012 at his residence. Born February 4, 1958, he was the son of the late Spencer Allen Lomax and Thelma Sue Scercy Lomax. Ric was a volunteer track coach at Maiden and Fred T. Foard High Schools. He mentored many young athletes to the state level. A devoted and loving husband and father, he was active in the Mountain View community. He was the owner and operator of Mountain View BBQ. His wife of 27 years, Lisa Powell Lomax of the home; a daughter, Anastasia Lomax Ruggles and husband Andrew of Greensboro, NC; two sons, Alex Lomax and Aram Lomax, both of the home; a sister, Valerie Lomax Gallaway of China Grove; two brothers, Spencer Lomax and wife Deborah of Mooresville and Lynn Lomax and wife Daphne of Mooresville survive him. The Memorial Service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with his father in law, the Rev. Marion Powell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Ric Lomax Memorial Fund, 2590 Ralph L. Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
