Rita Buchanan

Rita Frances Buchanan, 84, of Newton went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her residence. Born December 23rd, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Homer and Goldie Hefner.

Her husband of 66 years, Jack Buchanan Her sons, Mark Buchanan and wife Loretta and Jody Buchanan and wife Debra; her daughters Kimberly Schwab and Beth Buchanan Shook, her sister, Rosine Roseman, eight grandchildren, Luke Davis and wife Mallory, Olivia Hilton and husband Brad, Sophie, Alayna, Matthew, Kassidy, Madison and John Thomas and her great-grandchildren, Gaines, Eisley, Parks, Chloe, Evelyn, Graham, Trystan, Trace, Aurora, Jack, Juniper, Alastor and Eleanor survive her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt Margaret and uncle Clifford Roseman who helped raise her; her infant child, Kevin Buchanan; her sisters Helen Norman and Willa Dean Hedrick; her brother, Homer Franklin Hefner, Jr.; and her grandchild, Darragh McNeill.

The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Gloryland Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Witherspoon and Rev. Macon Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service and burial will follow at the church.
