Robert Beard

Robert ?Bob? Lee Beard, Sr. 82 of Columbine Drive, Newton died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born March 12, 1930 he was the son of the late Lonnie Robert Beard & Mildred Eltus Sain Beard. Robert was a member of Clover Baptist Church in Granite Falls. He worked for Joan Fabrics for 44 years and enjoyed time with his family and fishing. His wife of 61years, Peggy Sue Foster of the home; a daughter, Kelly Amanda Hahn of Newton; three sons, Michael Lee Beard, Sr., Tony Ray Beard and wife Alice and Robert Lee Beard, Jr. and wife Matoka of Statesville; 16 grand-children and 9 great grand-children survive him. The funeral will be 11:00 am, Monday June, 25, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Eric Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am Monday, June 25, 2012 in the Chapel, one hour prior.
