Robert Crandall

March 11, 1927 — January 20, 2018

Robert (Bob) James Crandall age 90 went to be with our Lord Jesus in heaven Saturday January 20, 2018 in the home of his son, Russ after declining from Alzheimer’s.  He was born March 11, 1927 in Columbia, Illinois.  Robert raised his family in Belvidere, Illinois where he lost his 1st wife to lung cancer.  He moved to Florida with his 2nd wife that later died of breast cancer.  He served in the Navy in WWII, was a retired machinist, and became an assistant pastor.  His Baptist ministries focus was converting Jews to Christianity.  Preceded in death was his first wife, Delores Crandall, his second wife Dorothy (Dot) Crandall, and his third wife Barbara Crandall.  Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Carl Crandall, two sisters, Marvel Myers and Patricia Crandall; his parents and his Son Paul’s wife, Karen.  Survivors include three children, Russell (Son), Jackie Larson (Daughter), and Paul (Son), along with their spouses Donna (Russ’s wife), Brian (Jackie’s husband) and several grandchildren/great grandchildren.
Robert came to live in Hickory, NC with his Son Russ & Donna after the death of his third wife, for his last two years, where he tremendously enjoyed all the staff and friends he made going six days a week to Catawba Valley Medical Center Fitness Plus in Hickory.  Cremation with burial services next to his first two wives in Belvidere, IL will be handled by Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Newton, NC and family.  In lieu of flowers or gifts please donate to Catawba Valley Medical Center Fitness Plus 3248 6th Avenue SE, Hickory, NC 28602 (828-326-3680).
