Robert (Bob) Worth Maxie, 76, of Iron Station passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at Novant Health Medical Center in Huntersville. Born December 18, 1941 he was the son of the late William Maxie and Ruby Hunt Maxie. Bob was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam. During Vietnam he received Two Purple Hearts and many other Medals and Honors. Bob was in service to his church, his country, his family, and his friends and he never met a stranger. He always had a smile and an offer to help on his lips. Friends gathered with Bob January 11, 2018. Knowing that the treatment options had been exhausted, Bob was at peace with going to see Jesus, though sad to be leaving his beloved Selena. I can only imagine how Bob was feeling, but despite that Bob gave a genuine "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to his best friend and brother-in-law, inquired of his nephew's finals grades, gave ice-fishing advice, and his usual smiling greeting when I walked in "Hey, PamPam". Bob's love for others defined him, even as he faced the end. His wife of 39 years Selena Maxie of the home survives him. In addition to his parents; two brothers David and Wendell Maxie preceded him in death. The funeral will be 3:00pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Church.
