Rocksana Lynn Sutton, 53 of Newton died Friday, April 1st, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born March 12th, 1963 in Morocco, IN she was the daughter of the late Don Stephen Sutton, Sr. and Mary Jane Cruse Sutton. In 1973, she moved to Newton, NC where she later attended Newton Conover High School and graduated from Bandys High School. She was an avid basketball and softball player who valued sportsmanship over trophies. She was employed at Hawksridge Farms Nursery in Mountain View, NC. Ms. Sutton appreciated nature and loved being outdoors where she gardened and enjoyed taking on special projects. She is survived by her life partner, April Green of the home; a sister, Lisa Perkins of Vale, NC; a brother, Don Sutton, Jr. of Boone, NC; a niece, Erica Hill of Broken Arrow, OK; a nephew, Richard Johnson, Jr. of Claremont, NC and other extended family. A Celebration of her life will be held at 6pm Thursday, April 7, 2016 in the Celebration Center at Jenkins Funeral Home with Chaplain Meg Skidmore officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Catawba Regional Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care, management and coworkers at Hawksridge Farms for their continued love and support and her close friends and family who visited regularly and always put a smile on her face. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
