Ronald Burgess

Ronald "Bird" Steven Burgess, 67 of Newton died Wednesday, February 24th, 2016 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born December 2nd, 1948 he was the son of Hazel Settlemyre Burgess of Newton and the late Arthur Burgess. He was employed by Siecor Corporation. His wife of 47 years, Dianne Lail Burgess of Vale; two sons, Andrew Steven Burgess and girlfriend Shannon Adkins of Vale and Christopher Blake Burgess and wife Stacy of Vale; a daughter, Jennifer Burgess Fender and husband Kenneth of Valdese; two sisters, Delores Cook of Dallas and Kimberly Price of Vale; a brother, Michael Burgess of Iron Station; 10 grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Harley, Aidan, Kaylee, Jaxon, Bentley, J.P., Forrest, and Shelby and his mother-in-law, Betty Lail of vale survive him. In addition to his father, a sister, Robin Burgess and a sister-in-law, Denise Burgess; a niece, Alysia Annas and his father-in-law, Winfield Lail, Sr. preceded him in death. A Celebration of Ronald's life will be 3:00 pm Monday February 29, 2016 at Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Sain officiating.
