Ruby Buchanan

Ruby Howell Buchanan 83 of Newton died Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born February 7, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Wiburn Dallas Howell and Margaret Helen Ellis Howell. She was a loving and caring, Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She lived her faith and taught by example. She was generous in sharing news of her family. Three daughters, Jeanette Richardson and husband Jerry of Granite Falls, Frances Robinson and husband Gary of Newton and Mary Lou Houser and husband Dean of Thomasville; two sons, Dale Buchanan and wife Robin of Newton, Steve Buchanan and Cathy of Hickory; two sisters, Barbara Hall and husband Bud of Black Mountain and Naomi Benge and husband Bill of Old Fort; 10 grandchildren, Amy Wright, Mendy Crump, Josh Robinson, Matt Robinson, Stacey Stalvey, Adam Houser, Andy Houser, Chris Buchanan, Tyler Buchanan, Brady Buchanan and nine Great grandchildren survive her. Her husband of 54 years, David Brown Buchanan; two daughters, Delores McGee, Anita Buchanan; a sister, Betty Hughes; two brothers, Bud Howell, Ellis Howell preceded her in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday December 29, 2012 at Startown First Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Hart and Pastor William Church officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Saturday December 29, 2012 at the church. The Guiding Light Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
