Ruth Zimmerman

Ruth Adele Bonnar Zimmerman of Newton died Wednesday August 18, 2010 after 91 years of living life on her own terms. Born July 29, 1919 in Beaver, PA, She was a daughter of the late Homer D., and Blanche Cassidy Bonnar. Ruth was a loving sister, mother, aunt, and a good friend and neighbor who will be missed by all who knew her. â??Remember her with love and smiles because that is how she knew you all. If you can only remember her with tears, then please do not remember her at all.â? Ruth loved her vocation of being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She also worked diligently outside of the home making vinyl records. It gave her pleasure thinking of others enjoying the music that came from the records she made. She is survived by three daughters: Linda Zimmerman, LPN, of Scranton, PA, Susan Thoburn M.S. Speech Language Pathologist of Forest Lake, MN, and Ruth Ann Hodgson, LPN, and husband Mark of White Bear Lake, MN; Six Grandchildren: Dayna, Joshua, Alan, Jennifer, James, and Steven; seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, dear friends: Margie and Ray Toney, and a lifelong friend: William Shroads. She was preceded in death by her husband H. Arthur Zimmerman, her brothers Dewitt and Gerald, and four sisters Eleanor, Lenora, and infant twin sisters. A celebration of her life will be from 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday August 22, 2010 at Friendship Methodist Church. A graveside service will be at a later date in the family plot at the Beaver Cemetery in Beaver, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any food bank, womanâ??s shelter, or childrenâ??s charity. Ruth had a special affection and concern for all the worldâ??s children.
