Samuel Leonard Long, 75, of Lincolnton passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Born Friday, February 28, 1947, he was the son of Leonard Long and Jeanette Whitesides.
He served in the US Army and in Vietnam from 1967-68.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Long, his daughter Angela Johnson, two stepsons Jared B. Leonhardt and Jason R. Leonhardt, two grandchildren Kenneth Samuel Tucker and Alexandria Nicole Julian, two great-grandchildren George Tucker and Madison Tucker, six step-grandchildren: Jacob Leonhardt, Sophie Leonhardt, Abrian Leonhardt, Kenny Leonhardt, Dominic Leonhardt, and Dylan Leonhardt, and his mother Jeanette Whitesides.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2022 at Jenkins Funeral Home. A graveside military service will follow at Forest Lawn officiated by Timmy Whittaker .
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the AmVets Post 76, P.O. Box 3042, Hickory, NC 28603.
