Severo ?William? Vargas Tellado, 81 of Young Drive, Conover died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his residence. Born January 5, 1931 in Puerto Rico he was the son of the late Juan Soto Vargas & Carmen Tellado. Also known as ?Pops?, he enjoyed Bingo, wrestling and going fishing. He was allergic to the four letter word ?work? and kiddingly asked for moonshine, no matter where he went to eat or drink. William loved to kid and joke although sometimes that got him into trouble. He was a U.S. Army veteran and later retired from the New York Transit Authority. Three daughters, Peggy Kowalsky and husband Mike of Ronkonkoma, NY, Anna Koenig and husband Steve of Newton and Lucy Sargeant and Tim Brewer of Valdese; three sons, Willie Tellado and wife Donna of Conover, John Tellado and wife Danita of Newton and Nick Tellado and wife Lisa of Taylorsville; a sister, Sophia Mendez of Las Vegas, NV; twenty grand-children, John, Vanessa, Lisa, Joann, David, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, Amanda, Jenna, Megan, Caitlin, Josh, James, Shea, Kayla, Shanta, Timothy, Tyler and Brandon; and 13 great grand-children and friend, Big Nick Carlas survive him. In addition to his wife Anna Lee Dugger Tellado of 52 years; three brothers, Luise Soto, Esteban R. Soto Tellado and Juan Soto Vargas; and two sisters, Maria Soto and Francisca Nieves preceded him in death. The funeral will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Weldon Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul?s Memorial Park in Newton. The American Legion Post 16 will provide military rites. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am, one hour prior in the chapel.
