Sgt. Garner Powers

SGT. Garner Warren Powers Jr, 76, of Hickory passed Friday, September 15th, 2023 in Caldwell County. Born, March 4th, 1947 he was the son of the late Garner Powers Sr. and Gloria Powers. He was enlisted in the Marine Corps for six years and acted as a radar intercept officer in the F4 B Phantom. He will be truly missed by all of his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Powers of the home; a son, Garner Warren Powers III and wife Keisha of Hickory; three grandchildren, Preston Powers of Vale, Brenton Gragg and his wife Haley of Vale, and Hailey Villegas and husband Skyler of Zirconia; three great-grandchildren, Roman, Silas, and Kai; a niece, Kim Growden and her husband Mark of Hudson; a grand-niece Lauren Ledford of Hudson; and a cousin Brenda Haas and husband Bobby of Hudson.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandfather, William Wrice Powers and his wife Annie Mae Powers; his grandfather Alfred E. DeMayo and his wife Hellen M. Muller Powers; and an aunt, Betha Lou Williams and her husband Carl Elmore Williams.

The Memorial Service will be 2PM Saturday September 23, 2023 at Winklers Grove Baptist Church located at 3320 9th Ave Dr NW, Hickory, NC 2860.

Jenkins Funeral Home staff is not involved in the memorial service at the church.
