Sherrard Ann Smith 86 of Newton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Carolina Caring. Born Saturday, June 22nd, 1935 she was the daughter of Ernest Jacobs and Annie Laurie Jacobs.
Two sons, Joel Smith and wife Karen of Newton and Bill Smith, Jr. and wife Sherry of Lenoir; a sister, Mary Katherine Lewis and husband David Leon of Newton; four grandsons, Jake Smith and wife Melinda of Minneola, FL, Justin Keever and wife Hannah of Lenoir and Austin Caldwell of Newton, Justen Bowman of Hildebran; a granddaughter, Whitney Winkler and husband Dustin of Lenoir and a special niece, Sherrard Ann Martin and husband Billy of Morganton and a niece, Shannon Lewis of Winston-Salem and 10 great grandchildren survive her.
Her husband of 53 years, William Wayne Smith, Sr, two grandsons, Trey Smith III and Luke Ervin preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Monday at the Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Stephen R. Disher and The Rev. Dr. Rob Helton officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
