Sidney Leonard

Sidney Lee Leonard, 82, of Newton died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born January 12th, 1942 he was the son of the late Sidney Lee Leonard Sr. and Lorene Allen Leonard. Sidney was born in Forsyth county and raised in Kernersville, NC. He worked for Cone Mills, Gulf Oil, National Steel, started Leonard's Sanitation, Banquet Foods NASCAR Team, Christian Tours, Pope Transport, Eagle Transportation and Foodlion.

His wife, Cheryl Leonard, two sons, Shaun Leonard and Shane Leonard; niece, Robin Ostrander; nephews, Doug Oberndorf and Jack Albert; granddaughter, Dahlia Leonard; grandson, Cameron Leonard; two great-grandchildren and many other family and friends survive him.

In addition to his parents, his half-sisters, Helen Stevens and Ada Sanders; and his step-daughter, Lynn Meares preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 5, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Jerome Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. and burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery.
