Susan Tolbert

Susan Sherrill Tolbert, 66, of Conover, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born March 23rd, 1956 to the late Marvin Frank Sherrill and Ruby Shook Sherrill.

Susie actively attended Christ Church Northside in Hickory and was employed by Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry where many lives were touched by her love and generosity over the last 14 years. She devoted her life to helping others and loving the less fortunate in our community. Susie enjoyed weaving, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 38 years, Gaither King Tolbert.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Joel Sain of Conover; grandsons, Lukus, McCoy, Cashton, and Noah; sisters, Pamela Manfredi and husband Ken of Hickory, Lisa Killian and husband Randy of Hickory, and Dianne Hart of Hickory.

Susie leaves a legacy of light and love to all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Susie's life will be held on May 7th, at 10 am at Christ Church Northside. Jenkins Funeral Home staff is not involved in the memorial service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry for the Gaither Tolbert Veteran Fund at 31 1st Avenue SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
