Sylvia Propst

Sylvia Ann Settlemyre Propst, 76 of Section House Road, Hickory died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born December 11, 1935 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lonsdale Joseph Settlemyre and Era Margareta Hunt Settlemyre. Sylvia was a devoted mother and loving sister. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She worked for North Western Bank and Bank of Granite and was an avid Pink Floyd fan. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature and was quick witted. In addition to her husband, Earl Henry Propst; a brother, Charles Settlemyre; and a sister, Betty Gail Settlemyre Drum preceded her in death. A daughter, Christina Huffman of Hickory; two sons, Keith Earl Propst of Hickory and Scott Luther Propst of Hickory; two brothers, John Settlemyre and wife Linda of Hickory and David Settlemyre and wife Elaine of Newton; a sister in law, Billy Jo Settlemyre of Maiden; a grand-son, Tristen Brice Propst; and several nieces and nephews survive her. The Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Pastor Robert J. Stevens will officiate.
