Sylvia Slacks

Sylvia Patricia Slacks 77 of Hickory died Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born August 5th, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Dorothy Hoyt Coulter. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served in the choir. She was very giving and humble person and was always thinking of others first. She loved her church and she loved the Lord. Two sisters, Dorothy Lutz of Fayetteville, NC and Melody Coulter Long and husband Ronald of Newton; a brother, Clifton Bernard Coulter of Newton; numerous nieces and nephews survive her. In addition to her husband, John David Slacks, a sister, Nancy Gabriel, preceded her in death. The home-going will be 2:00 pm Monday, October 10th, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church in Hickory with Rev. Antonio Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 1 pm-2:00 pm Monday, October 10th, 2016 at the church. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 4217 Park Place Ct.
