Teresa Hawkins

Teresa Elaine Hawkins 58 of Newton passed away Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Saturday, February 13th, 1960 she was the daughter of the late James and Cynthia Givens and Clarance Jackson Shoemaker.
In addition to her husband of 42 years Jim Hawkins, a daughter DeAnn Surrette and husband Alan of Garner, NC; two sons Ernest (Bobby) Hawkins of Newton, James (Jamie) Hawkins Jr. of Waynesville, NC; two sisters Pamela Sue Cody and husband Bill of Taylorsville, Cathy Laughlin of Gaffney, SC; a brother James Roger Givens of Conover; her only grand daughter Chloe Surrette of Garner, NC and a number of nieces and nephews survive her.
In addition to her parents, her sister Deborah Jean Alfaro preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 12:00 pm Friday, January 11th, 2019 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Lance Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday January 10, 2019 in the fellowship hall and 11:00 am -12:00 pm Friday, January 11th, 2019 in the sanctuary at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
