Terry Allen Cranford, 64 of 28th Street, NE, Hickory died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born November 13, 1946, he was the son of Margaret Jane Hice Cranford of Newton & the late Jessie Gaines Cranford. Terry was a U.S. Army Veteran that served in Vietnam and was a dedicated patriot. He was an owner and president of Cranford Wood Carving. He was a great and loving father, husband and grand-father. He was a devoted witness for Jesus Christ. In addition to his wife of 25 years, Mary Clawson Cranford of the home; two daughters, Lynette Whitfield and husband Kirk of Hickory and Margo Cranford of Raleigh; two step daughters, Misty Crawford of Newton and Yvette Campbell of Claremont; a son, Dennis Cranford and wife Aden of Hickory; a step son, James Holsclaw of Hickory; a sister, Brenda Belverd and husband Bruce of Newton; and nine grand-children, Brannon, Trey, Maelyn, Taylor, Blake, Brooklynn, Maxson, Kamden and Kiley survive him. A sister, Diane Cranford preceded him in death. The funeral service will be 2:30 Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Gateway Baptist Church in Newton. Pastor?s Bob Gober, Jerome Walker, and Andrew Bell will officiate. The family will receive friends 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the church, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post #48. Memorials may be made to The Gideon?s International, Catawba West Camp, PO Box 657, Conover, NC 28613.
