Thelma Jane Long Winebarger, 77 of Shang Lane, Conover died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born November 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Long and Ina Pearl Messer Long. Thelma was a dedicated mother and loved her children and grand children. She was strong willed, a very hard worker and an avid gardener. A daughter, Nellie Winebarger Parson and husband Tony of Wilkesboro; two sons, Larry Thompson and wife Donna of Conover and Freddie Winebarger of Taylorsville and Lois Bishoff; two sisters, Lou Griggs of Conover and Edna Gladden and husband Kemp of Conover; three brothers, Rob Long and wife Doris of Hendersonville, David Long and wife Johnsie of Hickory and Charles Long of Bethlehem; five grand children, Marty, Amanda, Richard, Christy and Heather; and five great grand children, Kinzley, Brandon, Robert, Madison and William survive her. Her husband of over 50 years, Charles Ray Winebarger preceded her in death. The graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery in Conover.
