Theresa Diane Smith Proffitt 67 of Vale died Thursday, October 12, 2023 surrounded by her family at home. Born Monday, March 19th, 1956 in Hickory, NC. She retired from the furniture industry.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Kenneth Earl Proffitt; mother, Ethel Broyhill Smith; son, George Donald Owenby and wife Sharon; daughter, Elizabeth May Daniels; daughter, Renia Layne and husband Luke; daughter, Britennnee Smith and husband Josh; sister, Donna Hourihan and husband Darrin; sister, Rita Sigmon; niece, Angie West and husband Jeremy; nephew, Chris Atkins and her 15 grandchildren that were her pride and joy.

George Elbert Smith, Father preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends 11:30am, Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center, 4801 Startown Rd, Newton, NC.

The funeral will be held at 12:30pm, Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel, 4801 Startown Rd, Newton, NC. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
