Thia Yang

Thia Yang was born on December 31, 1936 in Xieng-Khouang, Laos. She was the daughter of Xoob Txais Yang and Blia Vang. Her parents had a total of seven children. She had four brothers (Va Khue Yang, Xai Chu Yang, Nhia Pao Yang, Nao Vang Yang) and two sisters (Blia Yang, Mai Yang). Life wasn't easy for Thia, who lost her parents when she was young.

In 1963, Thia married Nhia Ying Vue. Together they had four children. Two of them are girls (Soua Vue and Nao Vue) and two are boys (Yang Pao Vue and Va Ying Vue). After 12 years, Nhia Ying died in 1975 after he joined the CIA as an undercover soldier during the Vietnam War. Due to unfortunate events, she lost not only her husband but also one of her daughters (Nao Vue).

After Thia's daughter (Soua Vue) got married, they decided to flee Laos to escape the Vietnam War. They successfully emigrated to the United States in search of a better life. However, life as an immigrant was not easy. Thia had no access to education and could neither drive nor speak English. Still, she never stopped making sure her own children were properly raised and cared for.

As a single mother, she taught herself how to ride a city bus, got up early every morning, and earned money by farming and picking vegetables. Thia also remarried several times and tried to find a suitable partner, but unfortunately without success. In the end, she decided to focus only on her children and has lived as a single mother ever since. Despite all her sacrifices, her two sons, Yang Pao Vue and Va Ying Vue got married and had children of their own. Thia now has a total of 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She also started attending church and decided to give a part of herself to Jesus.

Thia was a loving, caring, devoted and loyal wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and now an angel. Many have experienced and will never forget her unwavering love and her selfless sacrifice. She may have left her legacy behind, but our recollections of her will live on forever. They will forever be our greatest treasures.

Thia Yang's Celebration of Life will be held at the Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center on Saturday, February 4th, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The burial will be held at Burke Memorial Park on Sunday, February 5th at 10:00 am.
