Thomas Bennett

Thomas Layne Bennett, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, December 18th , 2023, due
to a lengthy battle with heart issues and other ailments. Thomas met the love of his life, Shirley Bennett,
because of Joe Bear. Shirley thought that if a man cared about a teddy bear that was made by his
grandmother, then he was a keeper. They were married on November 10th , 2000, and had just
celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.

Tom was strong in his faith in the Lord, a Vietnam Veteran, and his family was dear to his heart. In
addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by a brother, Bobby Bennett (Elizabeth) of Texas, his two
sons, Wes Bennett (Stephen) of New York and Bill Bennett (Christie) of Oklahoma, his three bonus
children, Brandi Lewis of North Carolina, Joshua Lewis (Heather) of Virginia, and Michael Lewis (Caroline)
of South Carolina. He is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren, Austin Bennett, Sarah Bennett,
Nathan Bennett, Jackson Lewis, Jareth Dotson, and Gracie-Belle Lewis and a great-granddaughter,
Zhavia June-Rose Bennett. Lastly but not least, he leaves behind his sweet cat, Sophie, who helped
Shirley nurse Tom for the last eight years.

He is predeceased by his father, Roy Bennett and his mother, Verda, as well as two brothers, Dale and
Jerry Bennett.

Services will be private with the immediate family at a later date to be determined.
