Thomas "Tom" Pinkney Hennessee 89, of Conover passed away Saturday, March 10 at Catawba Regional Hospice at Sherrill's Ford after a short period of declining health. Born November 25, 1928 to the late Albert Deal Hennessee and Jamie Blair Anderson Hennessee. Preceding him in death are his sister, Helen and brothers Roger and Robert.
He had a life long career in the furniture industry until age 75. In his younger years he was an avid hunter, enjoyed camping and blue grass music. Tom was a charter member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and served in the US Air Force.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years Melba Bean Hennessee of the home, his daughters Barbara Hager (Rocky), and Judy Fox (Leon) both of Conover; his grand-daughters Paege Abernathy (Clayton), Jennifer Stump (Marty) and Ashley McAdams; great grand-daughters Jessica Ledford (Brandon), Caitlyn Stump and Abigail McAdams; a great grand-son Caleb Welch; two brothers, Jack Hennessee (Lynn) and Allen Hennessee (Treva); step grand-son Dr. Allen Hager (Karen) and a step great grand-son, Evan Hager; a niece, Pam Hennessee Peterson and six nephews, Keith, Stacy, Pat, Chad, Grant, and Dace and his beloved Lucy.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Wednesday March 14 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with chaplain Kim Dowell officiating. The family will receive from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Conover City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Keith, Stacy and Chad Hennessee, Caleb Welch, Leon Fox, Rocky Hager, and Dillon Grimm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
