Thomas Wayne Mitchell, 71, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 at his residence. His pain and suffering are no more, and he is now walking on streets of gold. He was born July 8th, 1944 in Hattiesburg, MS to the late Willie Mitchell and Margie Weatherford Mitchell. He was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University and devoted his life to education and ministry. He loved encouraging others and was a blessing to many throughout his 25 year teaching career. His gentle spirit and warm smile will not soon be forgotten. He loved the Lord and always put faith and family first. He was a member of New Life Church in Conover. Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diana of the home; two sons, Dwayne Mitchell and wife Heather of Winston-Salem and Andrew Mitchell and wife Lisa of Indian Trail; two grandsons Wesley Joseph Mitchell and soon to be born Lucas Thomas Mitchell; a sister, Lucille Harris and husband Ray of Brooklyn, MS; a brother, Billy Mitchell of Hattiesburg, MS and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in in death by a brother, Roger Mitchell. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 20th, 2015 at Jenkins Cemetery with Pastor Steve Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm Thursday, November 19th, 2015 at New Life Church in Conover. Memorials may be made to New Life Church 4639 County Home Road, Conover, NC 28613.
