Tommy Ernest Brinkley, Jr. 75 of 8th Street Drive, Hickory died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his residence. Born March 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Tommy Ernest Brinkley, Sr. and Jessie Mae Little Brinkley. A US Navy veteran serving in Korean War, he was a member of Hunting Hills Church of God. He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company for 27 years. He loved fishing and camping. His wife, Carol Ruth Morrison Brinkley of the home, a son, Justin Ernest (Jessica) Brinkley of the home; a twin brother, Johnny Lawrence (Joyce) Brinkley and a grandchild, Nautica Mercedes Brinkley. A Celebration of Tommyâ??s life and worship service will be 2:00 pm Thursday September 10, 2009 at Hunting Hills Church of God with Pastors Randall J. Miller and Scott Rathbone officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society 500 E. Morehead St, Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to Hunting Hills Church of God, PO Box 5038 Hickory, North Carolina, 28603. Condolence messages may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.
