Wa Vue

Wa Neng Vue, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in the presence of his wife and children at his son and daughter-in-law Tong Pao Vue’s home in Morganton, North Carolina.

Wa Neng Vue was born June 15, 1929 in Na Mou, Laos to Mr. Pa Cheng Vue and Mai Yang. When he was 17 years old, he joyfully married to Nyiaj Vang in the village of Pong Xuas. In 1967, he joined the US secret army named Special Guerrila Unit, a clandestine operation in Laos. He served the military four years and finally left the army after his younger brother Dang Vue, who was also a soldier, was killed in the battlefield.

He was a good and loving husband, father, and grand-father. After the fall of Laos to communist in 1975, fear of being persecuted, he took his family to hide in the jungle for couple years eating roots, tree barks, and wild shoots. In 1987, he and his family making a no-return journey of 11 days and nights walking to cross the Mekong River to Thailand and finally came to the United States in 1988.

He is survived by his father Pa Cheng Vue who is 103 years old; his wife Nyia Vang; his 3 sons Hue Kong Vue, Tong Pao Vue, and Nkia Long Vue; his 5 daughters Zua Vue, Mao Vue, Xiong Vue, Dee Vue, and Mai Vue; 46 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

The Hmong funeral will begin Friday, October 23rd and conclude on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Pavilion & Gathering Center of Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton.

Burial will follow in Waynesville City Cemetery in Waynesville, N.C.
