Our beloved brother, Walter Lee Nichols, of Newton, 67, passed away September 1, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief unexpected illness. God, in his infinite wisdom, claimed our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Walter left behind his sister Brenda Coalson of Walkertown, brother William R. "Bobby" Nunn of Newton, his beloved dog, Rascal, who was Walter's world, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps, which included a tour in Vietnam and in the United States Army and United States Coast Guard and received a Presidential Unit Citation. He retired from Kmart in 2007 after 31 years of service and was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center ICU 5A including the critical care team and the neurosurgical team, with special thanks to Dr Rajay Jain, Ben Steinberg NP and Vaughn Spain RN. We will miss our loved one and know that God has an amazing angel to watch over us until we meet again. "I hide my tears when I say your name. But the pain in my heart is still the same. Though I smile and seem carefree. There's no one who misses you more than me."
