William Schuermeyer

William Frank Schuermeyer, 72 of Sigmon Dairy Road, Newton, died Thursday July 26, 2012 at his residence after a brief illness. Born December 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Henry Frank and Harriet Mary Durphy Schuermeyer. William was a veteran of the US Army and was an electrical engineer. He was active with the Christian Science Church of Hickory and a member of the Lincolnton Square Dancing & Shadows Round Dancing. He was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club in Spartanburg, S.C. He worked for Cedar Glen Apartments as a maintenance caretaker for 8 years, Arrow Automotive in Spartanburg for over 30 years and Ampier Automotive in Chicago for 5 years. His wife of 48 years, Joan Diane Riewaldt Schuermeyer, two daughters; Susie Schuermeyer Allred and her husband Jay of Winston-Salem and Cheri Schuermeyer Johnson and her husband Gregg; a son, Chad Schuermeyer of Newton; a brother Fred Schuermeyer of St. Louis, MO and five grandchildren survive him. A Celebration of Mr. Schuermeyer?s life will be 5:00 pm Friday, August 3, 2012 at the chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with the American Legion Post 16 providing military honors. Mr. Tony Bradley will officiate. The family will receive friends 4-5:00 pm, immediately prior to the ceremony.
