William ?Bill? Arthur Stanley, Sr., 72 of Old Conover Startown Road, Newton died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born June 2, 1940 in Randolph County, NC he was the son of Julius Elsie Stanley and Dorothy Virginia Noah Stanley. William worked for Conover Lumber for 35 years. He was a loving father and great friend to all, who was loved by everyone. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mary Elizabeth Ward Stanley of the home; two daughters, Sandra Smith and husband Davidof Vale and Jackie James and husband Joseph of Conover; five sons, William Stanley, Jr and wife Tammy of Newton, Jerry Stanley and wife Nickie of Newton, Donald Stanley and wife Pat of Newton, Rex Stanley and wife Laura of Ramseur and Tim Stanley of Lincolnton; three sisters, Clara Ward and husband Mack of Conover, Mary Workman of Fairmont and Judy Rodriguez and husband Jose; a brother, Jim Stanley and wife Kay of Ramseur; 16 grand-children and 17 great grand-children survive him. A sister, Sara Jane Stanley & grand-son, Jordan Matthew Stanley preceded him in death. The funeral will be 12:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Pastor Aaron Honeycutt and Pastor L.N. Stanley will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
