Windell Grady Frye

Windell Grady Frye, 77, of Hickory passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Trinity Ridge. Born, February 28th, 1947 he was the son of the late Clyde Garfield Frye and Inez Victoria Frye. Known for his passion for gardening and the deep joy he found in the company of his beloved grandchildren. Throughout his formative years, he embraced the spirit of competition, excelling in sports such as football, basketball, and baseball during his high school days. His love for athletic pursuits flourished even further in adulthood, as he continued to play softball and cultivated a keen interest in hunting. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita Smith Frye; his children, Lisa Frye Bryant and her husband Doug, and Tina Frye Baird and her husband Shay; his two sisters, Faith Penland (Larry), Joyce Pope (David); his three grandchildren, Carson Bryant (Taylor), Gwenna Bryant, and Zach Smith. 

In addition to his parents, Clyde Garfield Frye and Inez Victoria Frye, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Elden Frye, Margaret Walker, Marnie Frye, Lonnie Frye, Linda Willis, and Sarah Frye. 

The family will have a Graveside Service at Brookford Cemetery, 2PM Thursday December 26th, 2024 located at Mountain Grove Church Road Hickory, NC 28602.
