Cremation Choices

Your Loved One Never Leaves Our Care
Jenkins Funeral Home owns and operates its own crematory with certified cremationists. Others hire third party crematories. Their method leaves too much to risk and Jenkins cares to much to take that risk. We ensure that your loved one never leaves our care, and if you want even more security and peace of mind, you are welcome to be more involved. A scheduled cremation may take place and/or you may view from a viewing window into the cremation suite or you may actually help place your loved one into the cremation chamber. In this case, your loved one never leaves YOUR care.
Safeguarding Personal Identity
To ensure security, and eliminate the possibility of any error, the Jenkins staff will place a personal identification band on your loved one at the moment your loved one is transferred into our care.
Our Unique Tracking System
At Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service, every person in our care is logged into our tracking system and assigned an identification number, which is stamped into a stainless steel ID disc. This number is used to track every phase of the cremation process. Our tracking system includes date and time of arrival at our facility and name of the transfer technician.
 Clinical Viewing
If embalming or a viewing is NOT chosen, you may still choose to see your loved one as a last good-bye prior to cremation. Once we sanitize your loved one’s face this may be possible. We call it a Clinical viewing and it is designed to give you a few minutes to say your farewells. Private Family Viewing
This is a designated viewing time for your family only. It is not a public visitation or a ceremony or a service, rather a time for your family to gather privately in a room. The body is embalmed for safety and presented in their own clothing in a ceremonial casket.
A Funeral and Visitation is Possible
You may choose to have a funeral service and/or a public visitation prior to cremation. This is certainly possible with the body present in a ceremonial casket.
Our Cremation Process
Every cremationist on our staff is a Certified Cremation Specialist. Our high standards require that two individuals will review all cremation paperwork prior to cremation. This is to ensure authorizations have been received and have been properly documented. We record the name of your loved one, the date and time of the cremation, identification number, crematory operator’s name, as well as additional information regarding the cremation. Our crematory log is dated and the start time is noted and initialed by our cremation technician before and after the cremation. The crematory documents, personal identification band and stainless steel ID disc are placed on the outside of the cremation chamber during the cremation process.
After The Cremation
When the cremation is complete, the cremains are placed with the stainless steel ID disc into the selected urn. You will then be contacted to arrange for a convenient time to receive your loved one’s cremains.
